Neighbors of Gabby’s Saloon are preparing to picket outside the nightclub this afternoon. Some people who live near the bar say its hip-hop night crowds are loud and unruly. They say they’re tired of dealing with the noise, litter and fights.

The Lowry Avenue Bridge closed about an hour ago so that state bridge inspectors can begin taking a closer look at the century-old structure. The bridge will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Friday for the MnDOT inspection, part of a statewide bridge inspection mandate.

My wife and I returned this weekend from our Alaskan honeymoon. Among the highlights: sea kayaking off the Kenai Peninsula, stuffing ourselves with crab legs and halibut tacos, and scaling the Harding Icefield and Flattop Mountain (pictured).
