Northeast Celebrates Earth Day
Northeasters will have plenty of opportunities this weekend to step outside, get some sunshine and lend a hand to help the earth.
Saturday is Earth Day, and Northeast has a number of options to help residents celebrate.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreational Board is sponsoring a 13th Annual Watershed Clean Up, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The clean up sites are:
- Beltrami Park (register at 1111 Summer St. NE)
- Mississippi River NE, Boom Island (register at 700 Sibley St. NE)
- Mississippi River NE, Gluek Park (register at 1926 Marshall St. NE)
- Northeast Park (register at 1615 Pierce St. NE)
The Bottineau Neighborhood Association is hosting an Earth Day 5K run/walk at Gluek Park. Bring all the little ones; strollers and pets are welcome in this event. Meet at 1926 Marshall St. Starting time is nine in the morning. After the run, enjoy Gluek Park and a variety of educational booths, live music and food.
Also on Saturday, Edgewater Park will have a dedication and celebration on park improvements at 1:30 pm, and planting will begin on the community garden.
Eastside Food Co-op, on Central Avenue, is having an Earth Day celebration. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday they will have a variety of food samples. Live music will also be featured.
