Northeast animator releases feature full-length
It’s a strange world made of old magazine clippings and primitive sharpie drawings, and a Northeast animator has made it all come to life.
Wargoon Flishe a feature-length film by Sheridan resident John Akre, debuts Sunday at the Bedlam Theater. Based on a novel he wrote with the same name, Akre describes the film as "a nice cartoon about cannibalism, mass murder and marketing."
The animation style is bizarre and nontraditional, to say the least. Most of the drawings were done on 3×5 cards or Post-It notes with a Sharpie pen. Then they’re either scanned into a computer or shot in the field using a contraption called a Locatianimator.
