Police to give update on property complaints

Minneapolis Police plan to update Third Ward residents Wednesday on the status of complaints against a set of problem properties, including two in Northeast. It’s part of the agenda for Council Member Diane Hofstede’s Third Ward CARE committee meeting. (Another acronym - it stands for Community and Resource Exchange Committee.) First is a structure at 2136 Marshall St. NE. The owner was supposed to have complied with several orders by Dec. 1 or face citations. Second is a gas station at 300 Broadway St. NE, where police already reported last month a 75 percent drop in calls since the store agreed to close during bar closing rush. Second-precinct crime prevention specialist Carol Oosterhuis will also give a presentation on strategies for organizing block clubs. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Neighborhood Services, 1700 Second St. NE. Anyone live near these addresses? Any stories to share? Dan Haugen
