The Nicollet Island/East Bank area is experienced a spike in burglaries, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. In the last week:
- A suspect was inturrupted in the 100 block of Island Avenue East while cutting a screen to gain entry into a residence.
- A condo in the 200 block of First Avenue Northeast was entered through an unlocked sliding door.
- A home was entered in the 300 block of 9th Street Southeast through a basement window.
- Electronics and money were taken from a residence in the 600 block of Adams Street Northeast with no signs of forced entry.
- On the same block of Adams Street, a residence was entered by removing a screen on an unsecured window.
Police are asking residents to call 911 if they see suspicious activity, and also to review their own home security. Among their advice: locking doors and windows, making sure exterior doors have sturdy deadbolt locks, installing motion-detecting lights and leaving a radio on in your residence when you’re not home.
